Speaker Bios

Christine Chan (Social Investment Council member, Echoing Green)

Christine P. Chan is currently an Investment Officer and Assistant Vice President at JPMorgan Chase, where she is responsible for originating, executing, and monitoring private equity, venture capital, and real estate fund investments on behalf of Corporate. Previously at AIF Capital, a $1.5 billion emerging markets private equity fund, Christine evaluated multi-sector investment opportunities and closed on two growth equity investments in leading manufacturing businesses based in China and India. As an Associate at Cohen & Steers, Christine advised REITs and institutional clients in the healthcare and real estate sectors in complex transactions including restructuring, turn-arounds, and sale-leasebacks. Christine began her career as a Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst at Lazard and has represented a broad range of corporations in cross-border (US, Europe, and Asia) transactions in the general industrial, financial services, technology, and consumer sectors. Christine graduated with B.A.’s in Economics and Asian Studies, with a concentration in Chinese Economic Development, from the University of California at Berkeley, and holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Christine has been a CFA charterholder since 2005. Christine serves on the Social Investment Council of Echoing Green and has previously consulted on microfinance organizations including Women’s World Banking and Anti-Poverty Initiative.

Mailande Moran (Social Investment Council Manager, Echoing Green)

Mailande began her career in the art world; after various experiences in the field in college, ranging from museum education to art therapy at the Duke Children's Hospital, she worked for nearly two years in commercial galleries in New York. While working in marketing and development at various New York public arts nonprofits, she developed a strong interest in social entrepreneurship that ultimately led to her current position at Echoing Green. Additionally, Mailande is currently the Associate Director of the Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation's Earthquake Resistant Housing Project, working toward the creation of safe structures in post-disaster communities. She writes and edits for various websites and online publications; she also works with rape and domestic violence survivors as an advocate at Beth Israel Medical Center. Mailande graduated summa cum laude from Duke University in 2006 and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

David del Ser (Founder & CEO, Frogtek and Echoing Green Fellow)

Prior to founding Frogtek David worked for five years designing mobile applications in Vodafone's Research & Development group in Spain in partnership with companies such as Nokia, Adobe and Ericsson. David has an MBA from Columbia Business School where he was awarded the Nathan Gantcher Award in Social Enterprise, and while in business school David also founded Microlumbia, a student-run fund that provides investment and pro bono consulting services to microfinance institutions around the world. David holds a dual degree in Telecom Engineering from UPM in Madrid and ENST in Paris.

Luca Torre (Founding Partner, Treetops Capital)

Prior to forming Treetops Capital, Luca worked in Investment Banking in the Financial Institutions Group at Credit Suisse on a variety of transactions, including the Initial Public Offering of Banco Compartamos and Financiera Independencia. Luca also spearheaded a commercial microfinance initiative to increase Credit Suisse's market share in the sector. Prior to Credit Suisse, Luca worked in India for Annapurna, a cooperative microfinance bank located in Pune, performing a turnaround of the organization to support financial sustainability. Luca also worked in Cambodia with the International Finance Corporation to support local Social Entrepreneurship. He started his career as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group focusing on the Financial Services sector and worked extensively with the largest Italian banking group in better serving the Small and Medium Enterprise segment. Luca received a BSc from University of Brighton and a MBA from The Kellogg School of Management where he received the Siebel scholarship for leadership and academic achievements. Luca is the member of the Credit Committee of the Lower East Side People Credit Union in New York City.
